This will install the proper video driver to the virtual machine. The hardware is a brand new iMac with Snow Leppoard and the guest OS is Windows 7 Ultimate 圆4. So I'm actually not even playing any video media within MC at this point, simply launching the application. Hard to explain because its such a weird problem. You can then restore the window to a fullscreen (maximized) view and the video is restored and fully normal. The only way to get the video back is to try and find the minimize button and minimize the app and restore the window back to "non-fullscreen size". The application is running and responds to clicks (audibly) but you cannot see anything in the application. It seems something isn't processed processed properly and the the fullscreen instance of MC is basically just a black screen. When you launch MC, the default display mode is fullscreen. What I mean by "video" is the Media Center application itself. (I don't have a compatible extender to test this.) Is the virtual machine configured for NAT or bridged networking? The extender probably can't work through NAT. There are definaltey other factors that could cause this, however I haven't found any other issues with the configuration. The VM cannot seem to locate the Xbox extender that is needed to connect Media Center to the Xbox. Media Center is unable to connect to my Xbox for streaming.Where is the video coming from? Internet TV?, Video stored on the virtual machine's local hard drive? Or stored on the network? Is the video TV recorded through Media Center or some other video? (i.e.: AVI or WMV files.) If TV, was it recorded through this virtual machine or some other Windows 7 Media Center? (Or Vista Media Center or XP Media Center?) I don't use MC tht much in a virtual machine so I don't have any extended use experience in a virtual machine. Sometimes the video works when opening Media Center.
This doesn't happen always but it is frequent. This takes a few tries as I mentioned, there is no video.
When launching Windows Media Center, the VM video goes "black" and the only way to get the video back is to close Media Center by finding the "X" button in the upper right hand corner and closing Media Center.Have you installed VMware Tools into the Windows virtual machine? I am able to view TV recordings that were recorded on another Media Center PC. Has anyone been able to get Windows Media Center on a Windows 7 VM to work in Fusion 3.1.2? Perhaps this is unsupported by VMware.
